Happy Holiday to Elliott and all who celebrate! Ron and Pete press on even as the Permanent Occasional Guest Host lives up to his title on a Saturday morning. The founders dissect the latest from the diamond, including the Cardinals' offensive woes and the White Sox's historic struggle at the plate. Is St. Louis's lack of run production just a phase, or are alarm bells ringing in the Gateway City?

The guys pay homage to the late, great Whitey Herzog, reminiscing about his impact on the Cardinals and the broader baseball landscape. They ponder the future of MLB managers and whether the era of the revered skipper is fading into the sunset.

Tyler O'Neill's latest IL stint sparks a debate on player durability and fan patience, while "Ron's Soccer Minute" takes an unexpected turn into a full-blown analysis of St. Louis CITY SC's current season challenges. Will their tactics need a shake-up to keep up with the competition?

Whether you're mourning the loss of a Cardinals legend, mulling over the fate of MLB managers, or simply here for the quirky camaraderie, this episode delivers a grand slam of entertainment.

Join us next week for another round of unscripted sports talk, where we promise to keep the 420 references to a minimum... unless Elliott has anything to say about it.

Happy listening, and here's to hoping your team's run differential is on the right side of the ledger!

Gear up for another high-octane episode of the Team of Rivals Podcast, because the guys got up early on a Saturday because … well, just because!! Your favorite trio of die-hard baseball enthusiasts dissect the latest twists and turns of MLB with their signature blend of insight (ha!) and irreverence.

Ron, Elliott, and Pete dive headfirst into the rising costs of attending a Major League Baseball game, yet another baffling performance by Angel Hernandez, and the perplexing world of the St. Louis Cardinals. Treading water at .500, the guys dissect the team's performance, including the lackluster starts from key hitters and the promising debut of Sonny Gray. Will the Cardinals find their stride, or is change in the air?

Meanwhile, the Brewers and Pirates are off to surprisingly strong starts, but the guys are skeptical. Are they true contenders, or will the rigors of the season reveal their true colors?

Ron vents his frustrations with former Cardinal Tyler O'Neill. Is he – yet another – missed opportunity, or just another case of unfulfilled potential?

In yet another episode of "Ron's Soccer Minute", the conversation takes a surprising detour as Pete joins Ron in a passionate analysis of St. Louis CITY's season so far. With the team struggling to find the back of the net, Ron breaks down what's working, what's not, and whether the league has caught up to their tactics.

And finally: Are we a Saturday morning livestream?

Whether you're Rivalry faithful, a baseball purist, or just here for the laughs, this episode has a little something for everyone.

Buckle up, baseball aficionados, as the Team of Rivals Podcast unpacks the latest and greatest (or perhaps the worst) from MLB, including the bombshell that Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers might be the sport's biggest villains. The Cubs, on the other hand, are proving to be a delightful surprise, earning the title of one of the most objectively enjoyable teams to watch this season.

This week, Ron, Elliott, and Pete take a turn down memory lane with a candid chat about which players from their beloved teams irk them the most. From current nuisances to historical headaches, no player is safe from their unfiltered critiques.

And if that wasn't enough for you, the guys also take aim at the announcer's booth, praising the calls of Boog Sciambi and debating the merit of the voices that bring the game to life. Plus, a shocking revelation about the Oakland A's future home has the trio contemplating a road trip that could go down in podcast legend.

Don't miss out on the banter, insights, and the occasional off-topic rant.

Step up to the plate with the Team of Rivals as they tackle the highs and lows of MLB's opening day. The Cardinals may have had a rough start against the Dodgers, but Ron, Elliott, and Pete aren't losing hope just yet. They're breaking down the Cardinals' struggle against the Dodgers and the Cubs' face-off with the World Series champion Rangers. They also delve into the nuances of player contracts, including the legendary Bobby Bonilla payout scheme and rookie callups. Whether you're a die-hard baseball fan or just love a good sports discussion, this episode is your ticket to the big leagues.

Strap in for a rollercoaster ride as Ron, Elliott, and Pete tackle the elephant in the room amid a sea of MLB chaos. In this episode, we're bypassing the usual banter on injuries and player movements to zone in on the Shohei Ohtani saga that's got the baseball world holding its breath. Is the golden boy of the Los Angeles Dodgers in a gambling mess, and if so, what does that mean for him, the team, and the integrity of the game?

From the potential implications on Ohtani's mega contract to the eerie silence from MLB's top brass, we dissect the swirling rumors and the deafening lack of concrete information. Plus, we can't help but draw parallels to historical precedents and wonder aloud about the possible double standards at play.

As we ponder the future of baseball's poster boy, we also touch upon the state of the sport at the grassroots level, and how the game's changing landscape might be impacting its very soul.

Join Ron, Pete, and Elliot as they delve deep into the controversy, share their unfiltered opinions, and even bring in some legal expertise to shed light on the contractual complexities involved.

It's been a month since Ron, Elliott, and Pete have been willing to record, so they try their best to understand why. They discuss Scott Boras finally overplaying his hand, X/Twitter, Rob Manfred, and the new Nike jerseys, but it ultimately comes down to a lack of interest.

You see, baseball has lost that lovin' feelin', and the guys try to get to the root of the matter. Is it the lack of moves this offseason? The new jerseys that look like the free ones they give away at games? Is it too much exposure to social media fandom? Sydney Sweeney? (No, it's DEFINITELY not her!) So what is it?

The title says it all: THE WORST episode in our history, and the bar was already pretty low. (Let's be honest: It's all Pete's fault.)

Where has our motivation gone for baseball?  Ron, Elliott, and Pete try to figure out once again why they've lost their connection to our national pastime, while simultaneously mining the incredibly interesting topics of what the Cubs will do with their 40-man roster and Brandon Crawford checking into Busch Stadium III hospice. (Thoughts and prayers for his well-being.)

Yeah, they talk about the cancellation of Respawn's Star Wars game, Scott Boras, Shohei Ohtani, City FC, and the Bears quarterback situation, but it all comes back to a loss of sports passion.

Cubs' fans inner fire got lit this week, but is that wise? The Cubs guys think so, but Ron throws some shade because he's seen this before (and he's a dick!) Former and current Cardinals pitchers are talking about Wilson Contreras and the tire tracks they left on his back last year. They are saying the right things now, but why didn't they do so last year? (Because they're full of shit?)

And finally, a word of advice for the Bears: Don't f$&k up that first pick!

Please?

The whole Team assembles this week to kick off the start of Season 8! Ron, Elliott, and Pete (with an assist from Ron's son, Braden) cover a lot of territory on this episode. In the midst of a potentially pivotal offseason, the Cardinals announce … a concert. Are the Cubs going to do anything with what's left of free agency? The fans on both sides of the rivalry are getting awfully whiny. And how will changes to streaming rights affect the Cards and the rest of Major League Baseball.

BONUS BEARS CONTENT: What's going to happen with Bears this offseason, and what do the guys think they should with the first pick in the draft?

How about a little holiday cheer while you prep for your New Year celebrations?

One week before Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers, Ron and Pete jumped on to lament how frozen the market has been because of Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. And while he’s willing to admit that he was wrong about Ohtani’s skill level, Ron is not a fan. Same goes for Yamamoto.

They also set the stage for the eventual rage podcast directed at both Jed and Mo. It’s going to be a fun Season Eight in 2024.

In a super double secret probation type of way, Jed Hoyer pulled off a doozy right before this year's GM meetings. Nobody saw it coming, not even the "insiders": Craig Counsell is the new manager of the Chicago Cubs. He'll move 90 miles south and be $40 million richer for it. Be warned, though: A relationship with the Cubs can get weird. Just ask Dusty, Lou, Dale, Rick, Joe, Rossy…

The Cardinals? Well, that isn't even interesting enough to call "weird". They have a ton of work to do.

On the final Thursday of the regular season, Ron and Pete jumped on to discuss the Cubs' collapse and the impending end of the 2023 season. "God does not want us to be in the playoffs this year." And while Elliott didn't join with a live report from Atlanta, he did send a drunken message to you, the "Team of Rivals Peoples".

The guys discuss the offseason math and speculate about the moves that both front offices will (and won't) make as, for the first time in the history of this podcast, neither team will participate in the postseason.

They wrap up the night by switching to football talk and commiserating over the embarrassment that is the 2023 Chicago Bears.

As the baseball season fizzles out, Ron and Pete get a chance to do a face-to-face show for the first time in five years. Yeah, it was kinda weird … and the Bears suck.

They talk about the rapidly-approaching end to the 2023 baseball season: Will the Cubs hang on to a playoff spot, and is there anything left to say about the Cardinals that hasn't already been said? Cardinals fans are in the acceptance stage of their trauma, and there's more Shohei drama on the horizon.

Finally, it looks like it's going to be a long season for Bears fans, which means that the $300 Ron dropped on Sunday Ticket was a gamble he lost.

Team of Rivals on a Sunday?!?! When there's this much news to cover, Ron, Elliott, and Pete just can't wait until Thursday. So here you are, a rare Sunday episode that talks about the big unicorn in the room, a terrible hand of Cards, too much analytics, Jordan WicKKKKKKKKKs, City SC, and the embarrassment on the South Side of Chicago.

Nine games separate our two clubs, so not much of a rivalry happening right now.  The Cubs stay in it while the Cardinals do laps between 12 and 14 games under 500.  So, who were the one-hit wonders who had a cult following in Chicago?  Best player names?  Did Mo really say they have to go out and find three new starters!?  Oh, that's easy!

The Cubs have made an unexpected push and are hot on the heels of the first place Brewers, giving Pete 2015 vibes, but do other Cubs' fans feel the same? Meanwhile, the Cardinals have reclaimed their spot at the bottom of the division, but Ron's feeling good about Matthew LIberatore.

Plus, ten days after the trade deadline, what do the guys think about their respective teams' moves, now that we've had time for it to sink in?

The Trade Deadline is only 48 hours away, which is the only reason that Ron, Elliott, and Pete would record a podcast on a Sunday night. We recap the Cubs recent surge into playoff contention (and out of deadline selling), including a 6-2 run over the Cardinals, including an in-depth discussion of the stupidity that grew out of Ian Happ's ridiculously long back swing and Miles Mikolas' ridiculously selfish reaction. Plus, the Cardinals have started selling. When will they stop, and what will this team look like on Wednesday morning.

Finally, have you wished The Birthday Boy a happy one yet? If not, why not? Hit up Elliott "Deadline" Duy on X at @ToR_Elliott, and look forward to our trade recap on Thursday.

The Team can't decide which fans are in worse shape. Cubs fans? They're not sure which direction their team is headed. Cardinals fans? They're being patient (except on Twitter and Facebook) as ever.

Will the Cardinals going to win just enough over the next ten days to allow the front office to do nothing? Will the Cubs do something about their infield corners, seeking any consistent threat in the middle of the order?

One thing is for sure, in a boring season, these next two weeks hold the promise of change for both sides. OR NOT!

Big news in baseball as the John Mozeliak confirms that, for the first time in three decades, the Cardinals will be sellers at the trade deadline. But who will will be on the block, and will Cardinals Nation miss them when they're gone. Ron and Pete jump on this week to discuss that and the fact that the Cubs will be buyers this year. Or maybe sellers. Who knows?

And stop us if you've heard this before, but Elliott missed this week's show.

Stop us if you've heard this before, but Elliott wasn't able to make it this week, so The Streak ends at one.

Ron and Pete jump on this week to discuss how little they are looking forward to this weekend's London Series and how poorly MLB seems to have marketed this year's event, especially when compared to the original Yankees-Red Sox edition in 2019. How did something that should have been so big sneak up on two die-hard fans? Is it a lack of hype, or is it the two teams' underperformance relative to preseason expectations? And just how hard is it to root for The Rivalry when both teams are bad?

They wrap up this week's episode with a discussion of their favorite baseball fights and quick chat about the future of the Star Wars franchise.

Ron, Elliott, and Pete are back this week to discuss (once again!) just how far the mighty Cardinals have fallen. Have they hit rock bottom, or is there even further to fall? And while Elliott and Pete enjoy the pleasant diversion of the Cubs' recent run of good baseball, the schadenfreude is real, as they revel in which facet of the Cardinals organization is most responsible. Who gets the axe, and who actually deserves the axe?

Finally someone will talk to Ron about football (soccer). He welcomes Tito Rivera (@triveratops) to talk about STL City SC's inaugural season and the impact it has had on the St. Louis community.

As big as City has been to the region, MLS announced an even bigger addition this week, as the planet's best player, Lionel Messi, made the decision to join Inter Miami. Tito speculates what  this could mean to the sport in North America.

Pete's off gallivanting around Georgia, so Mike "Moose" Stephenson of the Two for Three Podcast joined Ron and Elliott to dicusss this mess at the other end of I-55. Will the Cardinals actually be sellers for the first time in forever? Does that scare the $H!7 out of Cardinals fans? Because It should. The Cubs aren't exempt, but their fans didn't expect them to be. They'll be opening the clearance aisles soon enough.

Let's start with the fact that The One Who Shall Not Be Named lives up to his title yet again this week.

The last time both teams were this terrible was 1997! And with the Permanent Occasional Guest Host unavailable to provide play-by-play of an unearthed wrestling vdeo, Ron and Pete are left to laugh through the pain of the Cards and Cubs sharing last place in the NL Central.

With a lack of positive news to discuss, they cover a wide range of topics, including front office failings, free agency, and Ron's Insanity.

Pete wound Ron up and let him go this week, as the Cardinals' Willson Contreras-inspired drama dominated the headlines at both ends of the I-55 Rivalry. Just in time for the Cards to take two of three from the Cubs!
