How about a little holiday cheer while you prep for your New Year celebrations?
One week before Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers, Ron and Pete jumped on to lament how frozen the market has been because of Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. And while he’s willing to admit that he was wrong about Ohtani’s skill level, Ron is not a fan. Same goes for Yamamoto.
They also set the stage for the eventual rage podcast directed at both Jed and Mo. It’s going to be a fun Season Eight in 2024.

In a super double secret probation type of way, Jed Hoyer pulled off a doozy right before this year's GM meetings. Nobody saw it coming, not even the "insiders": Craig Counsell is the new manager of the Chicago Cubs. He'll move 90 miles south and be $40 million richer for it. Be warned, though: A relationship with the Cubs can get weird. Just ask Dusty, Lou, Dale, Rick, Joe, Rossy…
The Cardinals? Well, that isn't even interesting enough to call "weird". They have a ton of work to do.

On the final Thursday of the regular season, Ron and Pete jumped on to discuss the Cubs' collapse and the impending end of the 2023 season. "God does not want us to be in the playoffs this year." And while Elliott didn't join with a live report from Atlanta, he did send a drunken message to you, the "Team of Rivals Peoples".
The guys discuss the offseason math and speculate about the moves that both front offices will (and won't) make as, for the first time in the history of this podcast, neither team will participate in the postseason.
They wrap up the night by switching to football talk and commiserating over the embarrassment that is the 2023 Chicago Bears.

As the baseball season fizzles out, Ron and Pete get a chance to do a face-to-face show for the first time in five years. Yeah, it was kinda weird … and the Bears suck.
They talk about the rapidly-approaching end to the 2023 baseball season: Will the Cubs hang on to a playoff spot, and is there anything left to say about the Cardinals that hasn't already been said? Cardinals fans are in the acceptance stage of their trauma, and there's more Shohei drama on the horizon.
Finally, it looks like it's going to be a long season for Bears fans, which means that the $300 Ron dropped on Sunday Ticket was a gamble he lost.

Team of Rivals on a Sunday?!?! When there's this much news to cover, Ron, Elliott, and Pete just can't wait until Thursday. So here you are, a rare Sunday episode that talks about the big unicorn in the room, a terrible hand of Cards, too much analytics, Jordan WicKKKKKKKKKs, City SC, and the embarrassment on the South Side of Chicago.
You heard a clip on this episode, so why not check out Talking Sports on the Bleachers with Don Glenn?

Nine games separate our two clubs, so not much of a rivalry happening right now. The Cubs stay in it while the Cardinals do laps between 12 and 14 games under 500. So, who were the one-hit wonders who had a cult following in Chicago? Best player names? Did Mo really say they have to go out and find three new starters!? Oh, that's easy!

The Trade Deadline is only 48 hours away, which is the only reason that Ron, Elliott, and Pete would record a podcast on a Sunday night. We recap the Cubs recent surge into playoff contention (and out of deadline selling), including a 6-2 run over the Cardinals, including an in-depth discussion of the stupidity that grew out of Ian Happ's ridiculously long back swing and Miles Mikolas' ridiculously selfish reaction. Plus, the Cardinals have started selling. When will they stop, and what will this team look like on Wednesday morning.
Finally, have you wished The Birthday Boy a happy one yet? If not, why not? Hit up Elliott "Deadline" Duy on X at @ToR_Elliott, and look forward to our trade recap on Thursday.

The Team can't decide which fans are in worse shape. Cubs fans? They're not sure which direction their team is headed. Cardinals fans? They're being patient (except on Twitter and Facebook) as ever.
Will the Cardinals going to win just enough over the next ten days to allow the front office to do nothing? Will the Cubs do something about their infield corners, seeking any consistent threat in the middle of the order?
One thing is for sure, in a boring season, these next two weeks hold the promise of change for both sides. OR NOT!

Big news in baseball as the John Mozeliak confirms that, for the first time in three decades, the Cardinals will be sellers at the trade deadline. But who will will be on the block, and will Cardinals Nation miss them when they're gone. Ron and Pete jump on this week to discuss that and the fact that the Cubs will be buyers this year. Or maybe sellers. Who knows?
And stop us if you've heard this before, but Elliott missed this week's show.

Stop us if you've heard this before, but Elliott wasn't able to make it this week, so The Streak ends at one.
Ron and Pete jump on this week to discuss how little they are looking forward to this weekend's London Series and how poorly MLB seems to have marketed this year's event, especially when compared to the original Yankees-Red Sox edition in 2019. How did something that should have been so big sneak up on two die-hard fans? Is it a lack of hype, or is it the two teams' underperformance relative to preseason expectations? And just how hard is it to root for The Rivalry when both teams are bad?
They wrap up this week's episode with a discussion of their favorite baseball fights and quick chat about the future of the Star Wars franchise.

Ron, Elliott, and Pete are back this week to discuss (once again!) just how far the mighty Cardinals have fallen. Have they hit rock bottom, or is there even further to fall? And while Elliott and Pete enjoy the pleasant diversion of the Cubs' recent run of good baseball, the schadenfreude is real, as they revel in which facet of the Cardinals organization is most responsible. Who gets the axe, and who actually deserves the axe?

Finally someone will talk to Ron about football (soccer). He welcomes Tito Rivera (@triveratops) to talk about STL City SC's inaugural season and the impact it has had on the St. Louis community.
As big as City has been to the region, MLS announced an even bigger addition this week, as the planet's best player, Lionel Messi, made the decision to join Inter Miami. Tito speculates what this could mean to the sport in North America.

Pete's off gallivanting around Georgia, so Mike "Moose" Stephenson of the Two for Three Podcast joined Ron and Elliott to dicusss this mess at the other end of I-55. Will the Cardinals actually be sellers for the first time in forever? Does that scare the $H!7 out of Cardinals fans? Because It should. The Cubs aren't exempt, but their fans didn't expect them to be. They'll be opening the clearance aisles soon enough.

Listen to Two for Three.
Let's start with the fact that The One Who Shall Not Be Named lives up to his title yet again this week.
The last time both teams were this terrible was 1997! And with the Permanent Occasional Guest Host unavailable to provide play-by-play of an unearthed wrestling vdeo, Ron and Pete are left to laugh through the pain of the Cards and Cubs sharing last place in the NL Central.
With a lack of positive news to discuss, they cover a wide range of topics, including front office failings, free agency, and Ron's Insanity.

Pete wound Ron up and let him go this week, as the Cardinals' Willson Contreras-inspired drama dominated the headlines at both ends of the I-55 Rivalry. Just in time for the Cards to take two of three from the Cubs!
Oh, and Elliott was here, too!

It's STAR WARS DAY (May the Fourth Be With You), so of course Elliott is out this week. Ron and Pete go Old School anyway, discussing their Star Wars Weekend plans, the Cubs' prospect anticipation (welcome "Never Nervous Mervis" and Miggy Amaya!), and the Cardinals' worst-in-50-years performance. Finally, Pete gets Ron to play "If I Were in the Front Office" and welcomes him to honorary Cubs Fandom.

It's Draft Day! The one and only thing Ron, Elliott, and Pete have in common is their "foos-ball" team. (Heavy discussion there…) Pete's predictions have been right so far … or have they? The Cardinals have looked terrible so far, the Cubs have been competitive, and are the Pirates for real? Baseball has been a struggle for all of the Midwestern teams (looking at you Sox fans), and deservedly so!

Happy 4/20 everyone! All three hosts made it to the show this week, navigating through the haze of smoke, the Cubs' entertaining start, and the Cardinals' failed launch.
What else entertained them this week? MadBum's DFA, the Las Vegas A's, STL City SC, and speculation over the two lucky cities that will win an MLB franchise.

Ron and Pete are both on the road this week, and Elliott is at the Blackhawks game. But it's Opening Day, so let's record an episode! Of course the Permanent Occasional Guest Host can't be bothered to join, so we go Old School, with a flashback to the podcast's early days - bad audio and all.
Ron and Pete discuss Opening Day for both teams, as well as the obvious effects of the new rules. (Nineteen runs, 34 hits, and nine walks in only 3:38?!?!) They also talk about the Japanese Unicorn, and trolling the internet.

It's Old School Ron and Pete this week, with a couple of surprise appearances! Spring Training is in full swing, and the WBC kicks off. Concerns about the Cardinals pitching staff and questions about young talent on both sides of the rivalry are going to make it hard for both the Cubs and the Cards as they begin to whittle down their big league rosters.

The Permanent Occasional Guest Host takes a week off, so it's an Old School Reunion. Ron and Pete recap their weekends with talk of St. Louis FC and the Fall of Pompeii. They finally get down to business and talk about MLB's post-RSN landscape and their thoughts after the first week of Spring Training. Finally, The Show Interruptor joins for what may become a permanent segment, Willson Watch.

After a month off of the pod, Ron, Elliott, and Pete get back together just in time for the start of Spring Training. They discuss Tim McCarver's passing, Shohei Ohtani's future free agency (and a possible midseason trade?), and the sudden collapse of the Sinclair RSNs.
Plus, they take on Joe West's inability to stay out of the spotlight in retirement. They wrap up the show with a rundown of their favorite Spring Training clichés and the rule changes that they are most (and least) looking forward to.
Finally, Ron talks to himself about the XFL back in The Lou.

With the conclusion of Cubs Con and Winter Warm-Up, Ron, Elliott, and Pete get together again for a post-conventions review. Are they feeling any more optimistic now that the annual feel-good gatherings have taken place? Does the ZIPS projection for the Cardinals make Ron feel better? Elliott feel worse? They also speculate about how the upcoming rules changes will affect the game, and Ron lights into Pete for his hardheadedness regarding Disney Star Wars.

Ron, Elliott, and Pete kick off the New Year by catching up on the Cubs' free agent activity since our last epsiode. Do they take this seriously, and does Elliott feel better since his mid-December rant? The Cardinals addressed their biggest need (catcher), but then stopped. Are they working on something else? Hopefully it's starting pitching, but most likely they are "comfortable with who we have." Same BS, different year.
